Leucospermum ‘Succession’ (Red Pincushion)

Nutans is a long-established trade name for a South African pincushion flower in the genus Leucospermum. Its currently accepted scientific name is Leucospermum cordifolium. The characteristic rounded flower heads, with long styles extending like pins, give it a bold, sculptural appearance. The name Nutans dates back to 1810, more than 210 years ago. Botanists later classified it as a synonym of Leucospermum cordifolium, but Nutans remains part of the literature and commercial history of South Africa's flower industry.
